Participant Guidelines for April 27, 2025
Before the Race
Race Packet Pickup
Race packets can be picked up on the following dates:
- April 25, 2025: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM at Arusha International Conference Centre
- April 26, 2025: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM at Arusha International Conference Centre
- Race Day: 5:30 AM - 6:30 AM at Arusha Clock Tower (not recommended)
Please bring a photo ID to collect your race packet.
What to Bring
On race day, remember to bring:
- Your race bib (pinned to the front of your shirt)
- Comfortable running shoes (already broken in)
- Lightweight, breathable running attire
- Sunscreen
- Water bottle
- Mobile phone for emergencies
- Small amount of cash for vendors

Course Information
Route Highlights
- Start at Arusha Clock Tower
- Run through Arusha's historic district
- Pass by the Natural History Museum
- Views of Mount Meru
- Finish at Sheikh Amri Abeid Memorial Stadium
The course is relatively flat with one gentle incline at the 3km mark.
On-Course Support
- Water stations at 1.5km and 3.5km
- Medical aid stations at start, finish, and 2.5km mark
- Portable toilets near water stations
- Course marshals in yellow vests along the route
- Kilometer markers throughout
Weather Considerations
Arusha in April typically experiences:
- Morning temperatures around 15-18°C (59-64°F)
- Possibility of light rain (race will proceed in light rain)
- Moderate humidity
Dress accordingly and consider bringing a light jacket for after the race. The event may be delayed or canceled in case of severe weather or lightning.
After Finishing
Post-Race Amenities
- Collect your finisher's medal at the finish line
- Hydration station with water and local fruits
- Cool-down stretching area led by fitness instructors
- Medical support if needed
- Bag collection area (if you checked one)
Festival Activities
Enjoy these activities after your run:
- Live music from local Tanzanian artists
- Food vendors featuring Tanzanian cuisine
- Press freedom exhibition and information booths
- Photo booth with Mount Meru backdrop
- Children's activities area
- Massage and recovery station
Important Rules
- Race bib must be visible on the front of your body at all times
- Follow the marked course and stay within cones or barriers
- Follow all instructions from race officials and volunteers
- No unauthorized vehicles, bicycles, skateboards, or pets on the course
- Headphones are allowed but keep volume low to hear instructions
- If you cannot finish, notify the nearest course marshal
- Medical staff may remove participants if deemed necessary for safety
- Time limit: All participants must complete the course within 90 minutes
- Respect local customs and environment - do not litter
Transportation & Parking
Getting to the Start Line
The race starts at the Arusha Clock Tower in central Arusha.
- By Taxi/Uber: Drop-off points will be clearly marked
- By Dala-dala (public minibus): Routes 1, 3, and 7 stop within walking distance
- Shuttle Service: Free shuttles will run from designated hotels (see list below) starting at 5:00 AM
Parking Information
Limited parking is available near the start/finish areas:
- Arusha International Conference Centre Parking (10,000 TZS flat rate)
- Sheikh Amri Abeid Memorial Stadium Parking (5,000 TZS flat rate)
- Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge Parking with shuttle service (Free for guests, 3,000 TZS for non-guests)
Note: Roads will begin closing at 6:00 AM. Please arrive early to secure parking.
FAQs
What is included in my registration?
Race bib with timing chip, event t-shirt, finisher's medal, post-race refreshments, and access to the festival activities.
Is there an age requirement?
Participants of all ages are welcome in the 5K. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Will there be bag check?
Yes, a secure bag check will be available at the start area. Use the bag tag provided in your race packet.
Are there prizes for winners?
Yes, trophies will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers overall, plus age group awards in 10-year increments.
Can I walk instead of run?
Absolutely! Many participants choose to walk the course. Just be aware of the 90-minute time limit.
Will there be race photos?
Yes, professional photographers will be on the course. Free digital downloads will be available after the event.
