Co-Chair

The conference is proudly co-chaired by the Government of Tanzania - Ministry of Information Culture Arts and Sports, UNESCO and Jamii Africa, in Arusha, Tanzania.

The WPFD Summit in Tanzania is an annual event organized under the leadership of a selected chair from the World Press Freedom Day Committee members. The chair is elected through a voting process among the committee members, and both the chair and the host region rotate each year to ensure inclusivity and diversity in the celebrations.

Welcome remarks, statements from officials, High Level Dialogue on AI's Impact on Journalism, and breakaway sessions on various topics including Media Sustainability, Gender and Media, Digital Security, Media Futures, and Legal Framework.

Main Event & Closing Ceremony

Plenary on Media Governance in the Digital Age, Misinformation during Elections, and Closing Ceremony with the Guest of Honor: Hon. Kassim Majaliwa Majaliwa (MP), Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Excursion to Mkomazi National Park

Participants arrive, register, excursion to Mkomazi National Park.

Additionally, an exhibition runs from April 27th to April 30th, where media houses, organizations, and stakeholders showcase their work, innovations, and contributions to press freedom.
